Board Games

Responsibility

Each of us is in charge of the actions we choose.

16 August 2019

During the all consuming rush of the art exhibition last June, my then-Grade 8s diligently worked through their last unit of the year, Responsibility, which we interpreted through applied design and an environmental lens. The projects didn’t make it up here on time, but better late than never!

In this project, students were tasked with designing and developing a board game centred on an environmental theme of their choice, such as environmental ethics, ecology and conservation. In the process, they had to develop and write rules for their game, keeping the user experience in mind, as well as design the layout of their board game and all game pieces. At the end of the unit, students played the board games they designed then tried playing the board games designed by their peers.
